After each episode they have a brief segment on how to prepare the dish featured in the episode. I thought it would be a good alternative to fried rice and sushi rice that my daughter loves to eat. She isn't a big fan of plain rice and gets tired of repetition also. Most of the dishes on Midnight Diner bring back memories of family comfort foods. Perfect TV for watching after midnight!
Tomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5904203800544900427.post-6926265366154441592020-07-03T01:34:46.914-04:002020-07-03T01:34:46.914-04:00Netflix has a Japanese series called Midnight Dine...Netflix has a Japanese series called Midnight Diner (season 1, episode 5). Shows butter rice with a dab of soy sauce. I didn't think it was true until I googled it lol. Gonna try this next time. I also read an article (which I have been trying in vain to find again) describing a Japanese brand of soy sauce seasoned specifically for bata meshi, or buttery flavored foods. That inspired me to experiment with seasoning plain soy sauce with dashi, which is so much better than straight soy sauce from the bottle.s

Thanks for posting this! the sauce over gohan problem reminds me of Western etiquette concerning bone-on meat or poultry at a formal dinner, where you struggle to remove the meat with knife and fork; whereas at home everyone would just pick up the bone with their fingers and gnaw.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5904203800544900427.post-59417534997344721532017-12-16T23:48:44.342-05:002017-12-16T23:48:44.342-05:00I'm eating butter rice with soy sauce as I'...I'm eating butter rice with soy sauce as I'm reading this. It's a great way to eat leftover rice as the butter softens the slightly dry rice. The flavor is amazing. I used to eat butter rice in my childhood too but sadly now it doesn't taste as good as I had remembered. So I added soy sauce and it's even better than just butter rice.Nindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12526508556541971330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5904203800544900427.post-11514929578300448202015-11-20T21:49:23.911-05:002015-11-20T21:49:23.911-05:00Hi BeesUnerTheBonnet

The only difference if that we use margarine instead of butter. I thought it was common as well but it seems those who know it, know it and those who don't... well, they don't.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
